Too far and you just will not be able to see the wild birds comfortably as they partake of the bird seed that you provide.

Homeowners can place the large bird feeder mounted parallel to the deck on a pole if it is not too big but then they will have the trouble of predators. You will often have problems with squirrels in any case. No need to add the cats into the mix who would want more to eat than all the bird seed.

No matter what design of large bird feeder you purchase make sure that it will match the structure of your yard and give you plenty of opportunity to watch birds as they enjoy eating and relaxing.
